The California State Assembly is considering AB 889, the Domestic Worker’s Bill of Rights, to provide household workers with expanded “rights” including paid time off, work shifts not to exceed 12 hours in a 24 hour period, mandated annual raises, and CA OSHA workplace regulations. The entire bill, as amended April 6, 2011 may be read at: http://leginfo.ca.gov/pub/11-12/bill/asm/ab_0851-0900/ab_889_bill_20110406_amended_asm_v98.pdf.

California household employers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the proposed rules and regulations. HomeWork Solutions will continue to track AB 899. Please subscribe to this blog if you want to be appraised of any updates.
