A former Armonk, NY investment banker, Richard Josephberg, was convicted of 21 counts of tax evasion on April 19, 2007, including the first ever conviction on "Nanny Tax" evasion count alleging that Josephberg paid his housekeeper and nanny in cash to avoid filing the required tax reports and paying Social Security and Medicare taxes for them. Sentencing is scheduled for July 19, 2007.

UPDATE: Josephberg was sentenced to 50 months in prison in November 2007.
The US Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York used the same tactic when Bernard Kerik, former NYC Police Commissioner, was charged in 2008 with Nanny Tax evasion. This was one of the charges he pled guilty to in November 2009. He was sentenced to 4 years in prision.
