NCS Taxes Explained

Newborn Care Specialists (NCS), formerly called baby nurses, are a speciality nanny. A NCS typically cares for a newborn for the first several weeks to the first several months of life. These highly trained professionals work with newborns, premature babies, and multiples such as twins and triplets. The NCS partners with the new parents, educating them as required on infant care, provides care for the baby so mom can rest and recover, and helps the infant develop good feeding and sleep schedules and patterns.

Because a newborn care specialists only works for a limited period of time, from many weeks to several months, and then turns the baby's care over to the parents or the nanny they have engaged, there is much confusion as to whether they are family employees or independent contractors.
